Navigating Wildfires & Changing Access in the North Cascades
As we got closer to their original date, wildfires made the area unsafe and we decided to move our plans into the following year. When we revisited everything the next spring, the effects of the previous fire season were still creating challenges. Rockslides and closures had changed access to some of the places we originally planned to visit, so we adjusted our plans and found somewhere new. A day we originally planned for summer eventually carried us into the following spring.
A Quiet Corner of the North Cascades
After changing locations, Val & Kaustav ended up with a quiet corner of the North Cascades almost entirely to themselves. The whole family made it out — including their two pups and three kitties. We spent the day exploring around the lake, wandering through the forest, and taking family photos with the whole crew. Eventually, we got the kayak out onto the water with the pups and spent some time paddling around the lake.
After more than a year of changing plans, we still ended up with the things Val & Kaustav had envisioned from the beginning: time together in the mountains, their pets alongside them, and plenty of space to explore. Sometimes your wedding doesn’t need to be one thing or happen all at once. There’s a lot of freedom in making it your own!
