Shalea & Kyle’s UW Cherry Blossom Engagement Session
If you’ve ever dreamed of a UW Cherry Blossom Engagement Session, you know just how magical spring on campus can be. For Shalea and Kyle, the cherry blossoms weren’t just a stunning backdrop—they held a special place in their hearts. The blooms, symbolizing new beginnings, also brought back cherished memories of their time as students at UW, where they first met and fell in love.
We started the session early on a weekday morning to soak in the quiet beauty of the blossoms before the usual crowds arrived. Shalea and Kyle brought their newborn daughter, Kina, making the day even more meaningful. Capturing these intimate, family-centered moments under the iconic cherry trees was truly special. After our time on campus, we made our way to Discovery Park, where their Husky, Callie, joined us for the final part of the session. The park’s coastal views and open fields brought a sense of adventure and balance to the soft romance of the cherry blossoms, creating a perfect conclusion to the morning.
I was honored to capture their engagement, knowing we’d have the chance to work together again for their intimate wedding later in the year. I always encourage couples to consider booking the same photographer for both moments—not just to document these milestones but to build trust and ease along the way. (I share more about this in my engagement session guide!) Celebrating their love against such a breathtaking spring backdrop felt like the perfect prelude to their wedding day. By the time summer arrived, we’d built a meaningful connection, making the entire experience feel seamless and natural.
