Lindsey & Alex’s Epic Off-Roading Elopement in Ouray
Lindsey & Alex’s off-roading elopement in Ouray was one for the books. When they first reached out, they shared that they’d been following my work for months, waiting for the perfect moment to plan their elopement. That instantly floored me, and we connected right away, diving into ideas for their special day. They wanted something simple yet meaningful—a day that reflected their love and included Alex’s two kids, Bronx and Harlow, who were becoming an integral part of this new chapter together. As we brainstormed, I mentioned Ouray, Colorado—the “Switzerland of America.” Its rugged peaks and off-road trails seemed like the perfect backdrop for the adventure they had in mind. they were immediately sold.
The San Juan Mountains are known for their fleeting accessibility, with snowdrifts and melting alpine lakes keeping some roads closed until late summer. We planned carefully, knowing the journey would be worth it. When the day came, we set off in their 4×4, winding our way through stunning waterfalls and breathtaking mountain passes before the journey brought us to a snowdrift that blocked our path. Instead of getting discouraged, we decided to hike a little further to see what we could find. About 200 yards later, we stumbled on an alpine lake that felt like it was waiting just for them. Not another soul in sight.
Standing by the water, surrounded by towering peaks, Lindsey and Alex exchanged heartfelt vows, their emotions pouring out with every word. Tears filled their eyes as they embraced the beauty and gravity of the moment. Alex’s kids, Bronx and Harlow, played nearby, their laughter echoing across the lake. During the ceremony, Lindsey knelt down to Bronx and Harlow, sharing a heartfelt promise to be the best role model she could for them as they grew together. It was a tender, deeply moving gesture that brought everyone to tears and perfectly captured the love and connection they were creating as a family.
