Renee & Matthew’s Summit County Engagement Session

couple enjoying the afternoon during their fall summit county engagement session

Renee and Matthew’s fall Summit County engagement session was a perfect reason to get out and experience Colorado’s incredible autumn colors. We met on a beautiful afternoon at a trailhead surrounded by golden aspen leaves, some of which had fallen onto the pine trees, giving them a holiday-like glow. Their big pup, Monty, came along too, proudly rocking a black bandana that said, “I loved her first,” which added such a personal and heartwarming touch to the day.

It was such a joy to capture their engagement, knowing we’d be working together again for their intimate wedding in Rocky Mountain National Park the following summer. I always encourage couples to book the same photographer for both moments—it’s not just about documenting these milestones, but also about building comfort and trust. Celebrating their love against such a stunning fall backdrop felt like the perfect prelude to their wedding day. By the time summer rolled around, we had already developed a great connection, making the entire experience seamless and even more meaningful. (I dive deeper into this in my engagement session guide!)
