Marlyn & Jared’s Fall Crested Butte Elopement

couple looking at each other during their fall crested butte elopement

Marlyn and Jared’s fall Crested Butte elopement was a day full of rare contrasts. They experienced the best of both worlds: golden fall aspens at their accommodations and a winter wonderland at their ceremony site. Their love and joy matched the incredible scenery, making the day feel personal and authentic.

We started at The Bighorn Ranch on Taylor River, surrounded by vibrant autumn colors. It was the perfect spot for their first look, where Jared saw Marlyn in her wedding attire for the first time. His expression said it all—pure awe. Before heading to their next location, we paused for heartfelt family photos, including moments with their kids, making the morning even more meaningful.

From there, we traveled to Emerald Lake. While the ranch was bathed in fall hues, the lake had transformed into a winter wonderland. Early snow blanketed the area, creating a stunning mix of snowy pines and shimmering lake reflections—a rare sight in the Rockies, where heavy snow usually takes the leaves with it.

Marlyn & Jared’s ceremony was deeply spiritual, weaving in her beliefs with sage cleansing and tiger’s eye crystals. Their pup, Syn—a spirited Rottweiler Marlyn gifted Jared for Father’s Day—added her energy to the day. After the ceremony, she had relentless zoomies, running circles around us and leaving everyone laughing.

As the sun dipped, we captured portraits against the golden, snow-covered backdrop. The day wrapped up with Syn signing the marriage license—a special Colorado touch. You could almost feel how proud she was of her “paw-some” signature and her humans’ choice to elope. It was a day filled with connection, laughter, and moments that beautifully combined love and adventure.
